Knights Out, our sister school LGBT Alumni group has been slammed with visits to their website ever since their press release on 3/17 (USMA Founder's Day). The recently appointed Knights Out spokesperson, First Lieutenant Daniel Choi, USMA ’03, also appeared on the Rachel Maddow show on MSNBC.
As of 3/20, Knights Out have had over 8,000 unique visitors to their website. The attention that they have garnered has thrown them into the lead for “initial members” -- now 46 members, exceeding the 29 of USNA Out and the 14 of the Blue Alliance at their inceptions combined! This phenomena could probably be rephrased as “West Point is the gayest” of all the federal service academies.
The Knights Out website was actually developed through a joint-venture with USNA Out and is hosted by USNA Out on our webservers. There is actually more to the story of why it became so important for USNA Out to have a sister group from our rival academy, but that story will be told at another time. Knights Out was founded by two USMA alumni, L Paul Morris, USMA ’80, Dan Manning, USMA ’04 and Steve Clark Hall, USNA ’75. And unlike the usual, we wish the Knights Out the best of luck in achieving their goals. For more about the Knights Out, visit their website at http://knightsout.org.
