Curt Mueller '93
Curt Mueller grew up in Atascosa, Texas, a rural town outside of San Antonio. At the Naval Academy he majored in Political Science but went into the Nuclear Power Program. Right out of the Academy he studied on a civilian scholarship to the Karl Ruprechts University in Heidelberg, Germany. After a year at the University, he went through the Nuclear Power pipeline and reported to the USS CALIFORNIA (CGN 36) in Bremerton, Washington.
In 1998, after a Persian Gulf deployment and a counter-narcotics deployment on the CALIFORNIA, Curt left the Navy. He went to work for the Pepsi in Seattle, Washington. Pepsi has been a lot like the Navy for Curt. He moved from Seattle to San Francisco in a variety of jobs. Most recently Pepsi has him in Portland, Oregon. He currently supports 5 states on the West Coast for Pepsi-Cola as the Northwest Market Unit Marketing Equipment Manager.
In Portland, he met his partner, Mitch. Curt loves the Pacific Northwest and enjoys hiking and ultra-marathoning.
From Curt:
“I wouldn't trade my time in the Navy. I met some amazing people, made life-long friends, and got to do a lot of things that most people would never get a chance to do. With ‘Don't Ask, Don't Tell’ the hallmark of my graduation year, I couldn't see myself making a career of the Navy. Interestingly, even then, I took my buddies out to dance clubs and no one seemed to mind. It's only a matter of time before we get things right and have a military that defends American liberty and can enjoy some of that same liberty.”
