Visiting USNAOut.org is no different from visiting any other world wide website. Every time you visit a website on the web, your browser transmits data to the site including your IP address, you computer operating system (Windows/Mac OS X, etc.) and the type of browser you are using (IE, Firefox, Safari, Chrome, mobile phone, etc.).
When you click on a link to go to another website, the referring link is also sent to the next server. USNA Out uses this data to better understand how people are finding us on the web. Some of the more interesting google searches to find us can be found on our "stumble" page.
The USNA Out website engine is the Drupal Content Management System (CMS). One function of the CMS maintains "logs" to monitor system performance. Log entires include all errors on the system such as pages not found, log-in errors including when you screw up your passwords, page visits, and the date of your last log in, etc. and of course as above your IP address, etc.
Because USNA Out has some content in "Members Only" password protected areas on our site, the fact that you have logged in and visited pages in is also logged. Our website log settings retain data for only one week. We do not do intentional backups to retain this data for posterity.
If you have any further questions please contact our webmaster here at USNA Out.
