Why We Are Here

To Be a "Role Model"

For most of the members of USNA Out, there were no role models, let alone "positive" role models of any LGBT alumni before us. The members of USNA Out are now here to provide that role model particularly for:

  • Midshipmen
  • Alumni serving in the Fleet/FMF
  • Parents, family and friends of LGBT or questioning midshipmen and junior officers

    USNA Out OBJECTIVES

Support the United States Naval Academy and each other through:

  • Visibility (whenever possible personalized, with a human face and voice) to:
    • alumni
    • midshipmen
    • classmates
    • other officers
    • public
  • Outreach
  • Education
  • Reconnecting with Naval Academy heritage
  • Fundraising on behalf of the US Naval Academy Foundation

    The MISSION of USNA Out

  • To serve, support, and further enhance the United States, the Naval Service, the Naval Academy, and its members, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity
  • Communicate the messages of the Naval Academy to its members
  • Initiate and sponsor activities which will:
    • perpetuate the history, traditions, and memories of the Naval Academy
    • strengthen the Naval Academy
    • bind alumni together in support of the highest ideals of command, citizenship, and government
    • reach out and educate
  • Encourage and facilitate among alumni:
    • friendships and associations
    • mentoring and advising relationships
    • aid to the members

USNA Out is an independent organization that does not represent the US Naval Academy Alumni Association or the US Naval Academy.
